How does this therapy help?
This combination of “exercise equipment” includes the Myotalea® Lip Trainer™ and the Myotalea® TLJ (Tongue, Lip and Jaw) oral appliances which help correct numerous dysfunctional soft tissue habits.
When these myofunctional exercising appliances are used for just under 10 minutes twice a day, they can:
- Stretch, Strengthen, and Tone the lips to help obtain a proper resting LIP SEAL which makes habitual mouth breathing easier to overcome and habitual nasal breathing easier to accomplish.
- Strengthen the tongue to encourage proper TONGUE POSTURE, which is when the tongue habitually rests at the roof of the mouth. This is important for proper swallowing patterns and encourages a wider airway.
- Strengthen and tone the TMJ JAW JOINT MUSCLES to improve proper function and support of the jaw joints.
- Target the throat muscles to PREVENT AIRWAY COLLAPSE which is often an issue of weak muscles in those who have sleep disordered breathing, including Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
