Cosmetic Dentistry in Sacramento, CA

Cosmetic dental treatments are focused on creating a pleasing, beautiful result. Examples of cosmetic treatments include custom-made porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, ceramic dental implants, tooth-colored fillings, and metal-free crowns, to name a few. We greatly enjoy helping patients bring out the best in their smiles using precise techniques and high-quality materials. Whether they received a full smile restoration or a minor fix with bonding, we have seen cosmetic treatments have an enormous impact on our patients’ self-confidence.

Our primary goal in planning cosmetic dental treatment is to achieve the appearance that looks most natural on you. We are particular about our process and begin by giving you ample time to discuss your concerns and your expectations. You will then be provided with the details of proposed treatments and recommendations that will help us achieve the desired result.

In addition to cosmetic restorations that do not cause dark spots in your smile, we offer a variety of smile-enhancing services.

When you join our practice, you will see and feel the difference. Quite simply, we love what we do and it shows.

Dental bonding

Bonding is a procedure through which we can disguise slight imperfections in teeth. This treatment is considered direct veneering since it applies an attractive cover to the front surface of a tooth. The material that is used in dental bonding is composite resin, the same material from which tooth-colored fillings are made. To complete enhancement, the pliable resin is applied to a prepared tooth, where it is then very precisely shaped and sized. When the desired result has been achieved, we cure (harden) material with special light and polish it to look just like natural enamel. With good care, bonding can last for years.

Porcelain veneers

Enhancement with porcelain veneers differs from bonding in that veneers are made in a dental lab. In preparation for veneers, we take impressions and discuss the characteristics desired in the final restoration. High-quality porcelain from which very thin sheets are carved looks like enamel in every way. Porcelain reflects light at all angles and remains translucent so that you can slightly see through the tip of the tooth. Unlike enamel, porcelain will not stain. For this reason, we may suggest teeth whitening if only one or a few veneers are required.

Teeth whitening

The efficient removal of stains can lift years off your appearance. We are pleased to provide both home whitening treatment and in-office whitening services. In some instances, a combination of the two will be used to achieve the most beautiful result. Professional whitening involves the application of a powerful type of peroxide, which is absorbed into the pores of the enamel to break up stains. Treatment performed in our office takes only about an hour. Our home whitening kit is prescribed based on individual needs. Some patients will wear whitening trays for ninety minutes a day, achieving noticeable results in about a week. If sensitivity occurs, whitening may be done every few days. Though it may take two to three weeks to see results in this manner, comfort is also important throughout the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does cosmetic dentistry focus on?

Cosmetic dental treatments are designed to improve how your teeth and smile look, without compromising function or comfort. Treatments may address concerns such as discoloration, uneven edges, gaps, or worn teeth. Dentists plan cosmetic care carefully so results look natural and complement facial features rather than appearing artificial or overdone.

Is cosmetic dentistry only about appearance?

While aesthetics are an important part of cosmetic dentistry, function and oral health are also considered. Dentists evaluate bite alignment, tooth structure, and gum health before recommending cosmetic treatment. This ensures improvements support long-term stability, not just short-term appearance.

What types of treatments are considered cosmetic?

Cosmetic dentistry can include whitening, veneers, aligners, bonding, or restorations designed with aesthetics in mind. The appropriate option depends on individual goals and oral health needs. A consultation helps determine which treatments are suitable and what results are realistic.

How does a dentist plan cosmetic treatment?

Planning involves a detailed exam, discussion of goals, and evaluation of tooth and gum health. Dentists consider factors such as facial balance, smile line, and bite function. Patients are welcome to ask questions and review their options before deciding on treatment.

Who may be a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry?

People with healthy teeth and gums who would like to enhance the look of their smile may be suitable candidates. Some concerns may need to be addressed first before cosmetic care begins. A dental evaluation helps determine readiness and ensures treatment is both safe and effective.
